A Message Gregory Hickey, MD – Director of Pulmonary/Critical Care Recruitment

I’ve been a pulmonologist/intensivist with CCPC since 2014, and have played an active role in new physician recruitment for the majority of my time with the practice. I enjoy speaking with potential future colleagues, while learning about their backgrounds and what they might bring to our group. I look forward to answering your questions and sharing the many benefits of joining team CCPC.

Critical Care and Pulmonary Consultants (CCPC) is a large, physician-led multi-specialist practice providing hospital and clinic-based care throughout the Denver-metro area. We specialize in the pulmonary, critical care, hospitalist, and sleep medicine disciplines. Read more about CCPC below and submit your CV and cover letter using the form at the bottom of this page.

Practice Locations

Our ICUs and inpatient pulmonary services are staffed with a shift-based system of day, float (admitting), and nocturnist shifts. We provide 24-hour inpatient coverage (both as a primary service and as a consulting service) at four hospitals, as well as a consulting service at two long-term acute care hospitals throughout metro Denver. Our locations include:

Our pulmonology and intensivist practitioners encounter a wide array of pathology, due in part to the diversity of the hospitals and patient-base for which we provide care. We also have access to state-of-the-art technology including, but not limited to, ICU bedside ultrasound, endobronchial ultrasound, and navigational bronchoscopy software.

Clinics

CCPC operates three outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine clinics and receives a large volume of patient referrals from primary care and specialist providers throughout the Denver area. Our main office is located in Greenwood Village, with fully staffed satellite clinics located in Thornton and Aurora. Our providers traditionally have one dedicated day of clinic each week, uninterrupted by inpatient responsibilities.

Hospital Engagement

Our physicians occupy ICU and medical staff leadership positions at each of our hospitals, working closely with hospital administration (in most cases, fostered by years of collaboration at each facility) in order to develop evidence-based protocols that provide the best care possible for our patients. These are several recent examples of the impact that our practice has had at our facilities:

  • We collaborated closely with our cardiovascular surgery colleagues to develop a successful VA and VV-ECMO program at The Medical Center of Aurora.
  • We played a crucial role in the successful start-up of a brand new hospital/ICU within the UCHealth system with the opening of the UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital in 2019.
  • We sit on weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards at multiple facilities to help provide optimal care for lung cancer patients, in addition to patients with other forms of challenging thoracic pathology.
  • We have helped to mature a neuro-critical care program at Sky Ridge Medical Center in conjunction with their developing Neuro-Interventional Radiology program.
  • We worked closely with hospital leadership at one of our hospitals in order to become a COVID-19 referral center and provide first-rate multidisciplinary care for particularly high-acuity patients during the pandemic.

Why Work for CCPC?

Full-time pulmonologist/intensivists with CCPC work a minimum of 18 shifts per month, including approximately four clinic days and a combination of (mostly) day and nighttime inpatient shifts. We offer:

  • A competitive monthly salary in addition to a productivity-driven quarterly bonus distribution.

  • After two years as a full time employee, individuals may become a clinical partner with an accompanying increase in bonus pay.

  • A generous retirement plan with fully vested 401(K) and Money Purchase Plan contributions.

  • Competitive medical and dental benefits. Health insurance plans may be either PPO or HSA, depending upon individual and family preference.
